OpenAI has updated GPT-5.6 Sol in ChatGPT for eligible Plus and Pro users. The company says the new experience gives more focused answers and better control over how much reasoning the model uses.

GPT-5.6 Luna is also becoming the everyday default for Free and Go users. OpenAI describes text chat as broadly available, although separate limits still apply to tools such as file analysis and images.

This is why a product name alone does not tell the whole story. Two ChatGPT users may receive different models, limits or tools depending on their plan and selected mode.
